A popular spa in Whistler has confirmed that a guest was on the property recently who later tested positive for coronavirus.

Scandinave Spa Whistler’s sales and marketing manager Michelle Leroux told Daily Hive the guest visited on August 8.

Vancouver Coastal Health notified the spa of the potential exposure event about ten days after the fact, on August 18.

“At this time the spa is not aware of any subsequent infections related to the patron who visited that day,” Leroux said.

A VCH inspector visited the spa after learning about the potential exposure, and deemed Scandinave’s safety protocols fully compliant, Leroux added.

The spa reopened with coronavirus precautions on July 3, according to information on its website. The property consists of of an outdoor area with hot and cold pools, some indoor spaces, and treatment rooms where guests receive massages. All areas have been reconfigured to create physically distant “pods” for couples to relax.

The spa’s overall capacity has been reduced by half, all staff are wearing masks, and guests must sanitize their hands and take a full body shower before entering common areas.

Leroux pointed guests to Scandinave Spa’s FAQ page for more information on its coronavirus precautions.
