BC health officials report 80 new coronavirus cases

BC health officials said on Thursday that 80 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the province.

During a press conference, Deputy Provincial Health Officer Dr. Réka Gustafson said this equates to 1,526 known cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 2,533 in Fraser Health, 159 on Vancouver Island, 411 in Interior Health, 121 people in Northern Health, and 75 from those who reside outside the province.

The latest cases bring the total number of recorded cases in the province to 4,825.

There are currently 780 active cases in the province. Out of these active cases, 11 people are in hospital, and four of these are in intensive care.

There have been two new deaths in this same time period in the Fraser Health region, bringing the provincial death toll to 200.

A total of 3,845 cases are now considered fully recovered in the province, as well.
