Opening day goes off on Whistler Mountain (PHOTOS)

Friday was good day to be at Whistler. A really good day.

Yes, after an opening date that was originally slated for November 23, the resort pushed back the opening date to today and Mother Nature did not disappoint.

And while some spoke of hour-and-a-half-long lift line wait times (there were “only” five lifts and 20 runs open on just the Whistler side after all), attitudes changed when skis and snowboards touched down and the first turns of the season were made.

Those fortunate enough to be there for opening day shared some of their snowy shots on social media.

With more precipitation in the forecast, things are looking very, very good for the beginning of this season.

And while it may be just Whistler open at the moment, Blackcomb is not far behind, as the opening day for that mountain is scheduled for the original date of November 23.

So hey, if you missed this opening day, there’s always next week, right?

Welcome back to the white room.
