It’s known worldwide as a premier ski destination, and now the Resort Municipality of Whistler has been named among the world’s 10 most expensive ski resorts in which to purchase property.

The new ranking comes courtesy of Engel & Völkers, who recently took a look at the world’s priciest places to purchase your own slice of snow paradise. Whistler was the only Canadian resort to make the list.

The data used in the ranking is based on the highest asking prices for private residences and the top prices per square metre for freehold apartments currently on the market in ski resorts around the world where Engel & Völkers is represented.

According to Engel & Völkers, buyers in these markets are attaching particular importance to the year-round usability of the property, safety and convenience to reach the location, sufficient space to ensure privacy, and reliable technology for a seamless work from home office.

Here are the 10 most expensive ski resorts according to the ranking:

    1. Gstaad, Switzerland
    2. Vail, USA
    3. Kitzbühel, Austria
    4. Aspen, USA
    5. St. Moritz, Switzerland
    6. Zermatt, Switzerland
    7. Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy
    8. Davos, Switzerland
    9. Whistler, BC
    10. Courmayeur, Italy
