Beloved Vancouver burger restaurant closes after 60+ years as a local staple
2025 has seen the unfortunate closure of many longstanding Vancouver restaurants, and we just received word of another one. Wally’s Burgers broke the news that it has closed the doors to its Vancouver location after 15 years.
“After so many great years, it’s time to say goodbye to our Vancouver location,” shared Wally’s. “This wasn’t an easy decision, but it’s time for some of our senior crew to retire and the younger crew to reset.”

This location opened in 2010, but Wally’s has been a burger staple in Vancouver for over 60 years, having opened its first location in 1959 on Kingsway. In 2008, the burger restaurant closed its Kingsway location, and in 2010, it relocated to its now-closed location in Killarney Center.
Wally’s claim to fame lies in its cooked-to-order food made with local ingredients. The restaurant has a local butcher to supply its patties and even works with a local baker to get fresh buns daily to ensure its burgers taste the same as it did when it first opened all those years ago.

Many people took to the comments of the closure post to share how much they will miss the burger spot.
“Gotta love Wallyâs. Sad to see the Vancouver location go but weâve been here before. Iâll make whatever trip I need to for a deluxe chuck wagon,” said one person.
“My home away from home đ big shoes to fill in that spot! Thank you guys for everything and looking forward to visiting Cate,” added another.
“I’ll miss your tasty burgers and the classic bag of fries đ,” a third person shared.
While its Vancouver location will be missed, folks still looking to get their Wally’s fix are in luck. Wally’s North Vancouver location in Cates Park will remain open and operate from May to September, weather permitting.
