While some people might shudder at the thought of going for a jog, a local Vancouver group is hoping to reshape that thinking, with a dance/jog “fun run” event, this Friday.

Presented by VYVE – formally known as Party4Health – the event combines “a non-stop dance party with a 5K jog through epic public spaces, alleyways, parks, and boardwalks.”
Attendees are encouraged to wear their funkiest outfits, bring their “in-shape or out-of-shape physical body,” and “dance and connect” during the event.
“The organizers want to make it clear that this experience is not your typical party. In fact, the experience is hardly a party, ” said VYVE’s Jacques Martiquet. “It’s a VYVE: an electric social experience powered by human connection, where you feel exhilarated, respected, included, and inspired, all at the same time.
Martiquet is no stranger to public events like these.
In the past, under its old Party4Health brand, the group has hosted such events as the New Year’s Eve Airport Dance Party.
Of course, like in the past, no drugs or alcohol are permitted at this event.
“The mission of VYVE is particularly relevant in Vancouver – one of Canada’s loneliest cities,” said Martiquet. “To spark up your life with the high of human connection.”
This, he said, is accomplished through “teaching people how to get high through engaging in human connection alone.”
The event takes place at Creekside Park, Science World, beginning at 9 pm, and admission is by donation. All participants must register.
