Police have arrested a 28-year-old man after what they’re calling a “random, unprovoked assault” in downtown Vancouver.

On Sunday, March 17, Daniel Bielewcz was charged with assault after allegedly spitting on the face of a 19-year-old woman in a wheelchair.

The incident took just after 9 am on Granville Street, near West Georgia Street.

Further video surveillance revealed that after the initial assault, Bielewcz appears to spit on the chest of an elderly man, as well as two women walking past him on Granville and West Georgia.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says that these three additional victims have yet to contact them.

“These random assaults are very concerning,” says Sgt. Jason Robillard, VPD spokesperson. “We are urging the three additional victims to come forward.”

Police are asking for anyone that may have been a victim to this type of assault to call them at 604-717-3321.
