VPD investigating after early-morning assault in city's West End

One man is in hospital and Vancouver Police (VPD) are investigating, after an assault in the city’s West End neighbourhood early this morning.

According to VPD, the incident took place just after 3 am, when officers responded to a 911 call by a man reporting that he had been assaulted “during an altercation” near Davie Street and Burrard Street.

The victim, a 36-year-old Vancouver man, was located “minutes” later near the intersection and transported to hospital.

While his injuries have been described as serious, they are believed to be non-life threatening.

Now police are canvassing the area for evidence in connection with the incident.

The incident follows another recent incident in the West End, in which a man followed a woman into her apartment building and sexually assaulted her.

That suspect has since been arrested.

With this latest case, police are asking who may have witnessed a disturbance in the area at around 3 am is asked to call the VPD’s Major Crime Section at 604-717-2541.
