Two in hospital after double stabbing in Downtown Eastside Monday afternoon

Vancouver Police are investigating a double stabbing on Monday afternoon in the city’s Downtown Eastside.

According to VPD Const. Tania Visintin, officers were called to the scene “after paramedics observed a fight between two to three people” shortly after 12 pm.

The incident took place near East Hastings and Columbia streets, and two men are now in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and another person has been arrested as a result.

“Five people have been stabbed in the Downtown Eastside in the last three days alone,” said Visintin.

However, “it is too early in the investigation to say if any of these are linked.”

At this point, investigators from the VPD’s Major Crime Section is involved with the case.
