People were nothing less than shook when a Reddit photo of what looked like Justin Bieber surfaced where the pop-star was biting into a burrito from the side.

Turns out the whole stunt was staged by LA-based YouTubers Yes Theory. ‘Justin Bieber’ was not actually Justin Bieber, and the organizers of the viral photo had a message for all of us Internet folk who were disturbed by the controversial eating strategy.

In a YouTube video uploaded on October 28, just three days after the Reddit photo was posted, it was revealed that Justin Bieber’s Doppelgänger, Brad Sousa, was the one biting into that Mexican handheld oh-so-wrong.

It was all an elaborate scheme to pose Sousa as the singer doing unusual things in public.

To goal of the trick, according to organizers, was “to prove a point that staging a story – as goofy as it was – can be done much more easily than most people can imagine.”

In the 12-minute video, the Yes Theory team shows viewers how the prank went from an idea to a reality, and eventually became an internationally covered story and heated debate all about the right way to eat a burrito.

For now, burrito lovers can rest easy knowing that Justin Bieber probably doesn’t eat his burritos like corn on the cob.

Between this stunt and IHOP’s surprise stint as a burger house this past summer, we don’t know what to believe anymore.
