As far as debut performances for expansion teams go, it doesn’t get much better than a 9-4 win.
That’s how the Vegas Golden Knights introduced themselves to the NHL on Sunday, albeit in preseason, against a Canucks team with a depleted lineup.
It was Vancouver – not Vegas – that looked like the expansion team on the ice at Rogers Arena. That’s for good reason, as nearly every player that will be in the Canucks’ opening night lineup was on a plane to China, in advance of a pair of exhibition games in Shanghai and Beijing.
Think that matters to whoever runs Vegas’ sassy social media accounts? Not a chance.
The Golden Knights’ Twitter account has quickly become the best in the league. You knew they’d have something hilarious for the Canucks as they made their debut, and they didn’t disappoint.
Here’s a selection of their best tweets, many of which were at the Canucks’ expense.

Alex Tuch makes it 5-2 Us!
This is right about the time when our opponents start wondering if putting a team in Vegas was such a good idea😂

Note
-We take preseason games very seriously when we're winning.
-We don't think they're very important when we're losing😉— Vegas Golden Knights (@GoldenKnights) September 17, 2017
well we're not. what a false sign! pic.twitter.com/dKMUeChAgp

they just got one. but we're still ahead 5-3 in the third period. we'd rather be ahead 5-3 than down 5-3. #truth

🎩Tyler Wong just scored again and has the first hat trick in team history. Sorry we're not more clever. He scores so much we're out of puns🎩
