SKOOKUM 2018

• What: The inaugural three-day festival is the result of a collaboration between BRANDLIVE and Virgin Mobile. More than 50 performances will take place over the course of the festival from The Killers to Florence + The Machine to Metric and more, accompanied by live art installations, gourmet culinary experiences, and some of BC’s best wines and craft beer.

Colin Mochrie & Brad Sherwood

• What: Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood return to the River Rock Show Theatre with their two-man improv show, Scared Scriptless. As seen on TV specials and movies, comedy veterans Colin and Brad will be making Metro Vancouver laugh during their interactive performance. The entire audience will be in on the act as they participate and provide suggestions, with Colin and Brad doing the rest.

Vancouver Fringe Bar

• What: For the 11 days of the Vancouver Fringe, the Fringe Bar features a variety of local bands and artists each night. Acts include Ponytails on September 6, Harlequin Gold on September 9, and Kimmortal on September 13.

Le Burger Week Vancouver 2018

• What: This year there are nine Vancouver eateries competing for the title of their city’s best burger. The winning creation is typically offered at a special “burger price” for the public to taste and cast their votes on leburgerweek.com. There will be winning burgers in several categories including People’s Choice, Most Creative, and Healthiest Burger. The celebration also sends undercover tasters all over the country to choose which creation will earn the Judges’ Choice title.

Vancouver Flipout Pinball Expo 2018

• What: The three-day event features over 100 pinball machines set to free play. There will also be competitive and amateur tournaments, special guests, and more for attendees to check out.

Wesbrook Village Festival 2018

• What: The annual festival is a fusion of fun, food, and entertainment. Enjoy a sidewalk sale, indulge in tasty BBQ fare during the free signature BBQ lunch, and delight in delicious samples from local eateries and community retailers. Enjoy live entertainment from Will Stroet, Dr. Strangelove, Beauty Shop Dolls, and Aché Brasil. There’s also going to be a kids zone complete with face-painting, craft tables, bouncy castles, and even a rock climbing wall.

Surrey’s Pie in the Plaza 2018

• What: This annual celebration of the city’s local agri-food sector is running for its third consecutive year. This free event features live music by local Celtic-Canadian folk-rock group the Pat Chessell Band, a ventriloquist performance by Norma McKnight, pony rides, face painting, an inflatable corn maze, vendor booths, and the pièce de résistance – a giant, 8-foot 2,000-slice blueberry pie. Pie will be served right after the opening ceremonies at 12:30 pm, so be sure to plan accordingly.

RISK!

• What: RISK! is a live show and podcast where people tell true stories they never thought they’d dare to share. Luxury & Supercar Weekend 2018

• What: Hundreds of rare classics and modern supercars worth more than $250M will be on display. Visitors can see high-end models from Pagani, Lamborghini, McLaren, Bugatti, Ferrari, and Koenigsegg, among others with the serene VanDusen Botanical Garden as a backdrop. Highlights of the weekend include a display of the first Porsche ever made, the Singer Porsche William DLS worth $2.2M, the Dino Ferrari, and the official Canadian public launch of the Pagani Huayra BC, worth $4.5M. Other events taking place over the two-day celebration include a $10M luxury and supercar auction, a piano concert in the garden, and two high-fashion runway shows presented by Oakridge Centre.

Polish Festival Vancouver

• What: The Polish party is going down at the Shipbuilders’ Square and Pipe Shop in North Vancouver and will feature music, singing, folk dancing, arts, games, and more. And of course, there will be delicious traditional Polish food including sausages, pierogis and pastries. After you feast, check out the vendors selling Polish crafts, jewelry and accessories.

24th Annual Metro Vancouver Feast of Fields

• What: Feast of Fields is a wandering gourmet harvest festival that highlights the connections between farmers and chefs, field and table, and between farm folks and city folks. With a wine glass and linen napkin in hand, you’ll stroll across a farmers field, travelling from tent to tent (sometimes through the barn, past the tractor or around the chicken coop) listening to live music, and tasting gourmet creations from some of BC’s top chefs, bakers, food artisans, vintners, brewers, distillers and other beverage producers.

One Love Westcoast Fest

• What: One Love Westcoast Fest is a Reggae, Latin and Afro festival that has been taking place on the lower mainland since 2001. Formerly hosted at Trout Lake, the festival is moving to Taj Park Convention Centre in 2018.

BC SPCA’s Paws for a Cause

• What: Taking place at David Lam Park, the fundraising walk-turned-celebration benefits local animals in the care of the BC SPCA at the Vancouver, Burnaby, West Vancouver, and Richmond Branches. A one-kilometre walk is open to participants (both human and canine) of all ages and fills the False Creek Seawall with animal lovers. In addition to the walk, the event will feature an afternoon filled with activities for both pets and owners. The festival site will feature vendors, activities, BC SPCA booths, and interactive games for fun-loving canines.
