While it has been a snowless season so far, winter weather and snow could be arriving in Vancouver after all if Environment and Climate Change Canada’s (ECCC) forecast pans out.
According to ECCC, there’s a chance of flurries on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this weekend and into next week.
And with temperatures in the forecast hovering around freezing or slightly above freezing, the chances of snow in Vancouver are higher than they’ve been in a while.
On Friday, overnight temperatures are predicted to be around 4°C but drop into freezing on Saturday, Valentine’s Day. Then, between Sunday and Wednesday, the forecast calls for rain or flurries.

Vancouver is currently in the midst of a historic winter season and could be facing its first snowless winter in over 40 years. There’s just over a month for that to change, as spring officially begins on March 20.
Earlier this month, Daily Hive reporter Daniel Chai spoke to ECCC meteorologist Ken Dosanjh, who had more to share about the historically snowless winter we’ve been experiencing.
“There was a close call for a winter without snow in 2014/2015, but two cm did fall in that November,” said Dosanjh, who revealed that the last time Vancouver saw any measurable snow at YVR was nearly a year ago.
The lack of winter weather has impacted ski resorts around Metro Vancouver, and the unusually warm winter also led to an early opening of the Grouse Grind.
Are you hoping that Vancouver sees some snow this weekend, or have you enjoyed this snowless weather?
