It may be time to put away the winter parka, because the chances of Vancouver experiencing any snow this winter are looking slim.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) told Daily Hive that it has been nearly a year since the city experienced any measurable snowfall.
This winter may be the first time that Vancouver goes snow-free since 1982-1983.

“There was a close call for a winter without snow in 2014/2015, but two cm did fall in that November,” said ECCC meteorologist Ken Dosanjh, who revealed that the last time Vancouver saw any measurable snow at YVR was nearly a year ago.
The last bit of snowfall in the city was in early February, when Vancouver received 0.2 cm on Feb. 8.
“As we look into this weekend, there will be some precipitation,” added Dosanjh. However, snow levels are hovering around 700 to 1,000 m, persisting above sea level. So the chances of snow in Vancouver are very low.”

Dosanjh added that the water basins on Vancouver Island currently sit at 49 per cent capacity, and South Coast basins are at 78 per cent.
Metro Vancouver ski resorts were forced to delay their start to the winter season due to a lack of snow on the mountains.
The mild Vancouver winter allowed the Grouse Grind Trail to officially reopen to hikers this week due to “favourable weather and trail conditions.”
And several cities across the province broke temperature records this week, including two spots that shattered 96-year-old records.

You may want to pack your umbrella for next week, as the Vancouver weather forecast is calling for a return of rain.
There is a daytime high of up to 11°C on Saturday, Feb. 7, and up to 8°C to start the work week. Overnight lows will dip down to just 3°C on Feb. 10 and 11.
