Vancouver has been treated to a bonus stretch of summer this week, but how long will the sunshine last? According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), not that long.
While the skies greeted the region with beautiful sunshine on Thursday, Sept. 25, ECCC is forecasting rain to return to Metro Vancouver as early as Friday.
The weather outlook for the last weekend of September and into the first weekend of October is looking wet, with no sun in the forecast.

Daytime temperatures are expected to remain mild, with a high of 16°C, from Friday, Sept. 26, to Wednesday, Oct. 1. Overnight lows will drop to as low as 10°C.
Keep your umbrellas nearby, as showers or the chance of showers are expected each day.
“Rain is possible into next week,” said Matt Loney, a meteorologist with ECCC, to Daily Hive. “Models some troughing off the west coast, so there’s a pretty good potential for more weather systems coming in next week.
“Models differ on the strength of those systems, but overall, it’s conducive for more organized systems coming in.”

Loney also previously shared that Metro Vancouver residents may want to brace for a fall that feels warmer than usual but with plenty of rain in the mix.
“In Metro Vancouver, the probability is higher for a warmer-than-normal fall,” said Matt Loney, a meteorologist with ECCC.
“But none of this is carved in stone…these are seasonal predictions, not guarantees.”
The forecast is based on model calculations, which suggest the highest probability is for warmth.
“The potential is there for above-normal precipitation over the South Coast,” Loney explained.
“With more moisture available, the intensity of atmospheric rivers could be above normal, even if the frequency is near normal.”
