$200M superyacht spotted near Vancouver once had Russian ties

A superyacht valued at over US$200 million was spotted near Vancouver on Canada Day and appeared to be undergoing some maintenance.
Daily Hive saw the superyacht at the Shipyards drydock in North Vancouver on Tuesday evening, and thanks to Seaspan, we’ve confirmed who the superyacht belongs to.
The superyacht itself is the Attessa V, belonging to billionaire Dennis Washington. Daily Hive has published several stories on Washington’s other vessel, the Attessa IV, which has made several appearances in Vancouver waters, dating back to 2022.
SuperYachtFan, a publication that primarily focuses on the technology and ownership of superyachts, provides additional information about the vessel’s previous ownership and its former ties to Russia.
“Currently, the AV Yacht is owned by Dennis Washington, an American billionaire known for owning the diversified Washington Companies. Before falling into Washington’s hands, the yacht was constructed for Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, the former owner of another luxury yacht, Solemar,” the publication states.

The vessel, built by Blohm and Voss and designed by Michael Leach Design, accommodates 24 guests in 12 cabins and 33 crew members in 16 cabins. It travels at a max speed of 19 knots, a cruising speed of 16 knots, and has annual running costs of around US$20 million. It is 95 metres (312 feet) long and was formerly known as the Palladium.
Blohm and Voss is “renowned for building masterpieces that gracefully traverse the seas,” according to SuperYachtFan.
Last year, another superyacht was spotted being fuelled at the Chevron Barge near Stanley Park. That superyacht, called the Viva, was valued at $175 million last year and belongs to another American businessman, Citadel LLC CEO Kenneth Griffin.
The superyacht spotting comes at an interesting time, as there are many marine operations taking place in North Vancouver this week featuring navy ships and sailors. It’s all part of the Royal Canadian Navy’s Fleet Week 2025, occurring at North Vancouver’s Burrard Dry Dock Pier from June 30 to July 6.
