Vancouver's latest streetwear event, The Drop, takes place this February

Metro Vancouver’s newest streetwear and sneaker event is happening next month, and it’s looking to bring a more consistent, affordable, and lifestyle-based event back to the city.
On Saturday, February 8, The Drop will take over the Bonsor Recreational Complex in Burnaby.
The one-day event was created with the goal of focusing on the community aspect behind Metro Vancouver’s budding sneaker and streetwear scene.
“We wanted to host a more consistent event,” says Jaycy Jaminal, one of the event organizers. “The sneaker and streetwear industry sees the turnover of trends move so quickly now. We wanted to give people a hub to be able to evolve with that more consistently.”
“One thing we hear a lot in the community is that larger events only come around once a year,” he adds. “Our goal is to change that with a more frequent event.”

Naturally, The Drop will be a hub for streetwear connoisseurs to find the latest kicks and clothing. It’s also a chance for the organizers, who have been longstanding members of Vancouver’s sneaker community, to give back to other members through giveaways and incentives.
This February will be the first time the event is hosted in Metro Vancouver, but organizers already plan to run the event frequently in the future.
“We’re going to try and run this quarterly,” Jaminal adds. “It’ll be very lifestyle-based with clothing giveaways and some amazing sponsors.”
The Drop already has several sponsors confirmed for its inaugural event, including Control, BRED, AMNotify, and True North Sole.
Tickets for the event will be priced at $15 for general admission and are available online and at the door. Vending inquiries are also available via email. The Drop will take place from 12 to 5 pm.
