'Consider taking transit': VPD warns of traffic disruptions at Stanley Park
The Vancouver Police Department has some advice for anyone planning to visit Stanley Park this weekend: maybe don’t drive.
In a post on X, the VPD said that there are several events happening this weekend in the park, including the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival (with headliners including Bill Burr, Pete Davidson, and Matt Rife).
They said that east of Brockton Oval will be closed to vehicle traffic, with access allowed only for buses and local traffic.
“You may want to consider taking transit into the park, then cycling or walking to get around and avoid congestion,” said the VPD.
You can take TransLink’s #19 bus into Stanley Park, which has two stops in Stanley Park. If you have a bike, there are multiple bike-friendly options to access the park, including the Seaside Bike Route off of English Bay. Further, the Horse Stable parking lot is currently closed for construction, meaning that parking will be limited.

Further, you can put your bike on the bus bike rack for no extra charge if you want to combine both bussing and biking.
“Plan ahead, allow extra time, and consider transit, cycling or walking when possible,” said the VPD.

Meanwhile, if you’re travelling elsewhere in the region, you can expect some other traffic disruptions, including an on-ramp closure onto Ironworkers Bridge between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. and construction on Highway 1 through the Fraser Valley.
