A high-risk sex offender was re-arrested in Vancouver yesterday after a report that he committed an indecent act.
According to the Vancouver Police Department, officers had responded to reports that a man was masturbating in an East Vancouver neighbourhood.
On Wednesday, police were called to the area near Woodland Drive and East Broadway after a woman reported an incident to police just before 5 p.m. She told police that a man was masturbating in a lane and looking into houses.
Officers who responded to the scene arrested the suspect.
VPD has named the suspect as 25-year-old Skylar Wayne Pelletier. He has now been charged with one count of indecent act. VPD said that Pelletier is a convicted sex offender who is currently serving a five-year long-term supervision order for convictions of sexual assault, assault, and break and enter. Last year, VPD warned the public that he would be living in Vancouver.
The department added that the suspect remains in custody.
In March 2024, the VPD warned the public about Pelletier, saying that he would be residing in Vancouver, posing “a risk of significant harm to women in the community.”
His conditions while living in the community included:
- No consumption, purchase or possession of alcohol
- No consumption, purchase or possession of drugs other than prescribed meds
- No association with the victim or members of the victim’s family
- An order to report all contacts with females to his parole supervisor
- He must reside in a community correctional centre or community residential facility
- A 6 p.m. curfew
- He cannot go to Salish Park, Chilliwack
- Must take all medication as directed by a health care practitioner
