'Report this': Vancouver rental goes viral for all the wrong reasons
A Vancouver rental made it to the front page of Reddit and received thousands of comments, but it was for all the wrong reasons.
A Facebook Marketplace rental listing was shared on the Subreddit “midlyinfuriating.”
The listing comes from GoTwo Prime Living, and it isn’t the only listing from the group that some might find questionable.
After just two hours, the Reddit post had received over 2,000 comments and over 20,000 upvotes. Shortly after the Reddit post was shared, the listing was taken down from Facebook Marketplace. So, someone either rented the suite within those couple of hours or GoTwo caught wind of the Reddit post and decided to remove it.

The original listing was for a “private room” for $980 per month. The listing stated that the room was furnished. However, upon seeing a picture, it’s hardly a room and actually looks like a bed situated in a narrow, closet-sized solarium or balcony.
Redditors — many clearly not from Vancouver or they likely wouldn’t be so surprised — did not hold back in their criticism of the listing.

Some Redditors accused listings like this of taking advantage of students. And the listing does state, “Ideal for students and young professionals.”
“There are hundreds of postings like this meant to scam international students and new immigrants, or to boost a unit in the algorithm of a rental site,” said a Redditor who claimed to live in Vancouver.

“Imagine renting a balcony for almost a grand per month,” someone else joked.
Others weren’t so kind. One Redditor replied, “Imagine being the piece of s**t who posted this listing. Putting ‘private’ in the title is chef’s kiss.”
Another Redditor said, “Charging 980 for that is insane. I hate how greedy the world has become.”
GoTwo has another similar listing that’s still posted, but we took a screenshot just in case. It appears to be a slightly larger listing than the one posted to Reddit for more money.

The description reads similarly to the other listing, saying, “Live in one of Downtown Vancouver’s best locations!”
It again refers to the bedroom as furnished and “private.”
