Rainfall warning in effect for Metro Vancouver until Saturday afternoon

Good news Vancouver! This weekend is going to be the perfect time to stay home, keep warm and dry, and get all that binge watching done.

OK, all this rain sucks, we know. And now Environment Canada has issued yet another heavy rainfall warning, this time extending through Saturday.

Environment Canada issued the warning just before 2 pm on Friday, after water pounded the streets of Vancouver for most of the morning.

The warning states more heavy rain is on the way, as another fall storm is set to arrive on the South Coast on Saturday.

Rain will start over Vancouver Island overnight on Friday and reach the mainland coast by Saturday morning, reads the warning.

The downpours will then “intensify” Saturday afternoon and evening. Some 50 to 70 mm of rain is expected depending on location.

There is some hope though. Conditions are expected to improve around midnight on Saturday, with only a few showers hanging around after that.

The warning applies to Vancouver, Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, Surrey, Langley, North Vancouver, and West Vancouver.

Local flooding is possible in low-lying areas.
