All the best highlights of the 10-day Vancouver Mural Fest
Vancouver’s biggest public art festival, the Vancouver Mural Fest, is back for its fourth year with an exciting 10-day schedule of events celebrating dozens of the city’s most talented artists.
The annual event, which is happening between August 1 to 10, is a platform to showcase the diversity and creativity of local artists while also bringing communities together through accessible public art and interaction about the socio-cultural issues facing the city.

The festival culminates into its most highly anticipated event, the Mount Pleasant Street Party on Saturday, August 10 from 12 to 7 pm.
The party spans over 14 blocks in and around Main Street and Broadway, and will see Mount Pleasant’s streets and laneways transformed into dynamic living art spaces with free attractions to bring the community together, including live music, four beer gardens, skate jam, Family Zone, two markets, street dance battles, DJs, and much more.
The Vancouver Mural Festival has something for everyone, and is a public, inclusive event that is intended for all classes, cultures, genders, ages, and abilities.
Here are the 10-day event highlights for the 2019 Vancouver Mural Fest:
Parties
There will be 4 beer gardens and a Bondi Beach Party at the Aug.10 Street Party, and an Aug.4 Pride Special 12-hour party. In addition, attendees can enjoy a Shepard Fairey DJ set at Fortune Sound Club on Aug.7!
Art
This year, the VMF will feature 25+ new murals and a VMF Gallery featuring original artwork by 90+ local artists, a live painting at Super Snag (Aug.6), Opus Paint in the Park (Aug.8), BAF Shepard Fairey/OBEY exhibition (Aug.8), Charlie Edmiston exhibition opening (Aug.9), and daily guided mural tours to learn about the art/artists.
Family
The majority of events are all-ages, including licensed areas such as the beer gardens and Open Air Movie Theatre (Aug.9); brand new Family Zone at the Aug 10 Street Party including Opus acrylic art & screenprinting, a Wesgroup Creative Corner, face painting, Cardboard City, and food trucks.
Music
There will be 3 Street Party music stages featuring, free performances by local artists + The Park Show, which is an all-ages, evening, ticketed concert (Aug.10). And a free, special Sofar Vancouver x VMF Pop-Up Concert (Aug.3).
Public Art Talks
SFU Public Square, Thrive Talks (Aug.5), VMF Gallery opening night curator talks will all take place (Aug.1).
Running enthusiasts
Inaugural MEC x VMF Run the Murals guided/curated 2km & 5km runs (Aug.2, plus additional runs Aug.5, 8, 10).
LGBTQ
A Pride Special 12-hour party presented by Public Disco (Aug.4).
Tattoo fans:
A 2-day Flash Tattoo featuring 27 artists! (Aug.9 & 10).
Movie lovers
An Open air movie theatre in the park! (Aug.9).
Street Culture:
Four Elements of Hip Hop (breakdancing/turntables/MC/graffiti), and Skateboard jam at the Aug.10 Street Party.
