'Tranquil setting': Metro Vancouver golf course named one of the best in Canada
A popular golfing publication has named a Metro Vancouver golf course one of the best in the country, and several others from B.C. were also spotlighted.
SCOREGolf ranked Capilano Golf & Country Club #6 on a list of the Top 100 best golf courses in Canada.
The 14th edition of the biennial ranking stated that the West Vancouver destination is a great setting for a relaxing round of golf.

“Located high above Vancouver, Capilano is routed through a plunging property with holes winding through stately fir trees and offering glimpses of the city’s distant skyline,” said SCOREGolf in its write-up.
“Capilano is always wonderfully conditioned, and it provides real peace during the golfer’s journey with its tranquil setting. Capilano’s downhill first hole and climbing 18th could be the best opener-closer combo in Canada.”
Designed by renowned Canadian golf course architect Stanley Thompson, Capilano Golf & Country Club is located in West Vancouver at 420 Southborough Dr.
The club opened in 1937, featuring 18 holes in a private facility. In 2016, the course underwent some updates courtesy of Doug Carrick, another golf course architect.

Four other B.C. golf courses also cracked the top 20 of the latest SCOREGolf ranking.
In 14th spot was Victoria Golf Club, described as “good of a setting as there is for golf in this country.”
One spot after in 15th was Sagebrush in Merritt (“whimsical, fun, challenging and beautiful”), Vancouver’s Shaughnessy in 16th (“a course that tour pros have loved), and Greywolf in Panorama in 17th place (“dramatic piece of mountain property”).

The busy summer travel season is in full swing across Canada, and those looking to hit the beach are flocking to one province in particular.
Travel media platform Travel and Tour World (TTW) recently named its top 10 beaches in Canada, and the top four spots are all located in British Columbia.
The top two beaches were located on Vancouver Island in B.C.: Chesterman Beach and Long Beach in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.
With over 2.7 kilometres of white sand connecting North and South Chesterman, Canada’s top beach according to TTW is a dream for surfers, dog walkers, storm watchers, and anyone in search of salt air and solitude.
Long Beach is a 34,800-acre beach-lined rainforest located in the most northern part of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve on the west coast of Vancouver Island.
