
We have hit the final days of 2025, and if you have New Year’s Eve plans in Vancouver, the forecast is not ideal if you’re looking to stay dry.
After a month that saw numerous windstorm events and heavy rainfall impact Metro Vancouver and large swaths of British Columbia, those hoping for a sunny and dry New Year’s Eve and start to 2026 will be sorely disappointed.
According to the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) forecast, the weather in Vancouver is a tad below average for today, Dec. 27; however, the thermometer will start to rise as we roll towards next week.
Vancouver is forecast to reach a high of 2°C today, with an overnight low of -1°C, with a 30 per cent chance of rain showers or wet flurries today. Daytime highs are on the rebound come tomorrow, with Sunday, Dec. 28, forecast to see a high of 3°C and mainly cloudy.
Temperatures continue to rise as we travel through the final days of 2025, reaching a daytime high of 7°C on Monday, Dec. 29 and Tuesday, Dec. 30.
The forecast is hinting that rain will dampen our New Year’s Eve, with periods of rain during the day and a 60 per cent chance of showers at night.
The start of 2026 is also shaping up to be soggy, with periods of rain and showers on tap for New Year’s Day and Friday, Jan. 2. Keep those rain jackets and umbrellas handy!

According to ECCC, the average high for Vancouver around this time of year is 6°C, while the average low is 1°C.
As of writing, it’s also looking like to be a wet New Year’s Eve for many other areas in British Columbia, with Kelowna staring down the chance of flurries, Victoria is eyeing up periods of rain, and Whistler could see a 60 per cent chance of showers during the day and a 60 per cent chance of rain showers or flurries at night.
