Big change may be coming for Vancouver weather in 'unstable' forecast | Daily Hive

The Vancouver forecast for the week ahead remains as sunny and warm as ever, but a new wrinkle may bring some changes to be aware of.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), temperatures are climbing for the next 48 hours, reaching up to 26°C inland on Tuesday and up to 30°C inland the same day with the humidex. There will also be a UV index of seven or higher.

But those living in or visiting Metro Vancouver this week may want to keep an eye on the skies as there is a possibility of thunderstorms for several days this week.

“We have some change coming in,” explained Morgen Shull, ECCC meteorologist. “There’s a weak trough setting up over the region on Wednesday, and with it comes a chance of showers through to Friday afternoon.

“However, there’s also a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday. Things will be unstable. It won’t be a full washout, but it will be a different setup for this week.”

Closer to the water, temperatures in the Vancouver forecast will range between 22°C and 25°C for the next seven days.

Several days will have a mix of sun and clouds, as well as some overnight cloudy periods.

Vancouver may also see a dip in the air quality once again as a change in the weather pattern may bring wildfire smoke back to the region.

“There is a trough over the interior that is now drifting over to the west,” added Shull.

“With a change from westerly flow to easterly flow, there’s a chance of smoke coming back into the region later this week. A ridge may also possibly rebuild with warmer temperatures by the weekend.”
