Jun 11 2017, 8:45 pm

It’s a bit of a quiet week in Vancouver, with Father’s Day rounding it out at the end (so make sure you remember to pick him up his favourite bottle or treat before Sunday). With summer right around the corner, we’ve still got lots of fantastic eating and drinking to do in and around the city.

Here are six Vancouver food events to check out this week, June 12 to 18, 2017.

1. Vancouver Foodster’s Chicken Wing Challenge

Restaurants from all over the city are showing off their Chicken Wing creations in this exciting challenge, including many who created a dish just for the event. Each restaurant will be featuring their Chicken Wings creation on their menu from June 8 through 29, and your job (such work!) is to taste as many as you can and cast your vote for the people’s choice.

When: Now through June 29, 2017
Where: Participating restaurants

2. Canada 150 Afternoon Tea at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver

For their limited time Canada 150 Afternoon Tea, the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver has designed a menu that essentially allows you to travel Canada coast to coast in every single bite, from a creamy lobster roll inspired by Atlantic Canada to a Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich, and even a chocolate-dipped Nanaimo Bar for dessert. It’s refined, but not fussy, and probably the most filling tea time you’ll ever experience.

Where: Fairmont Hotel Vancouver
Cost: $59 (Children 12 and under are $29.50); for reservations call 604-662-1900 or email [email protected]

The evening also features great wines from Kim Crawford, Sage Hills, and Meiomi,  brews from Red Truck Beer Co., and Ocean Wise® caesars from Walter Caesar.
