6 can't-miss Vancouver food events happening this week: February 25 to March 3

If you’re anything like us, the hunger for unique and delicious food and beverage-centred events is as strong as ever. It’s a good thing Vancouver always delivers them in excess.

Here are Vancouver food events, in or around the city, to check out this week.

Riley Park Farmers’ Market (Winter Edition)

Formerly known as the Nat Bailey Farmers’ Market, the market was renamed after being changed to a year-round event. Visitors will be able to find over 30 producers and a selection of food and coffee trucks. The market also has amenities such as bike racks, an ATM on-site, and at times, live music.

When: Saturdays from now to April 27 from 10 am to 2 pm

Disco Dumplings at Burdock & Co

This weekly series features a savoury dumpling menu, DJ Chris Allen spinning vinyl, and a flashy disco ball setting the mood. Plates are $10 and guests can choose from an assortment of decadent dumplings including nettle and ricotta with wild greens and pork and burdock with charred chili sauce.

Unsung Heroes Festival at Blue Water Cafe

Blue Water Cafe has been concocting weird and wonderful culinary creations from the sea for its annual Unsung Heroes Festival for over a decade, and this year’s selection is no different. Now in its 15th year, Executive Chef Frank Pabst has created an array of delights not commonly found on many menus for the festival, which runs throughout the month until February 28.

Vancouver International Wine Festival 2019

The 41st annual Vancouver International Wine Festival is returning in 2019, and if you’re even slightly into sipping from the vine, you’re going to want to be there. This year, it’s all about Californian wines, and with wineries from 16 countries combined in attendance, the best of the best of wine is going to get the spotlight it deserves at this world-class event.

BC SPCA’s Treat Week

A number of local businesses have partnered with the BC SPCA and pledged to donate a portion of proceeds from certain treats sold between February 25 to March 3 to support abandoned, abused, or neglected animals. The participating venues include Beaucoup Bakery, Butter Baked Goods, DALINA, and La Glace to name a few. Check out more details online and see the full list of participants.

A Family Affair Brunch

This event celebrates Black History Month and features a four-course brunch that kicks off with vegan appetizers. Eats are from Kula Foods and Elbo Jamaican Patties, and drinks will be provided by the hosting venue, Calabash.
