A body found at the beach near Crab Park has been linked to the first homicide in Vancouver this year.
Vancouver Police shared minimal details about the incident this weekend as very little is known at this point in time.
No arrests have been made, and officers spent much of the weekend collecting evidence from the area.
Police shared what they do know about the incident this weekend.
According to the Vancouver Police Department, officers were called to Crab Park just before 8:30 am on March 22 because of a dead body that was found on the beach. While the cause of death isn’t known, nor has the victim been identified, police are saying that the man was murdered.
Crab Park has been under much scrutiny from the City of Vancouver due to residents without a home taking shelter there. Last year, the City embarked on a cleanup effort to eliminate garbage and large entrenched structures.

The first homicide of 2025 comes much later than it did last year. In 2024, Vancouver Police said that the first homicide took place in late January after a man was found deceased inside of his home. In that case, a suspect was arrested at the scene.
