After over a decade of operation in Vancouver, Rue 909 Sushi has shared with customers that it will be closing its doors before the end of the month. The reason? Its lease won’t be renewed.

The restaurant shared the news with patrons with a sign on its window.

“It is with a heavy heart that we prepare to say goodbye. We want to express our deepest gratitude for your loyal support and the wonderful community we’ve built together. We will truly miss seeing your faces and will cherish the memories made here,” wrote Rue 909. “Thank you for being a part of our journey. We wish you all the very best for the future.”

Additionally, the restaurant posted the letter received by its landlord, sharing that they would not be renewing the lease on the building.

“As you may be aware, my lease for the building ends July 31, 2026. I have decided not to renew with Manet Investments for another term. As a result, all business will need to vacate the buildings as per the terms of the head lease,” read the letter. “We have enjoyed having you as a tenant over the years. It has been a pleasure working with you.”

Rue 909 Sushi was best known for its selection of classic sushi options alongside bento boxes, rice bowls, noodles, and more. It will officially close its doors on April 30.

Other impacted businesses in the building include Brandi’s Exotic Show Lounge, which will be closing its doors after 26 years of operation.
