Pitch Black at Maan Farms

What: In annual Halloween fashion, Maan Farms is back with its fifth annual Fall Festival, including its beloved haunted corn maze, self-dubbed as “the scariest corn maze in Canada.” This October, those who are brave enough are invited to venture out and check out Pitch Black. Organizers describe it as a multi-sensory experience where darkness (literally) comes to grab you.

Upon entry, all guests are given the choice to simply explore the darkness or to truly interact with what awaits inside. Those who pick the latter can be grabbed, held back, sent into hidden passageways, and even separated from the rest of their group.

PechaKucha Night

What: PechaKucha Night features creative people sharing their works, ideas, and stories with 20 images for 20 seconds each. Hosted by Shadbolt Centre for the Arts and Burnaby Neighbourhood House.

Frankenstein: Lost In Darkness

What: A brand-new audio drama adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic tale. Directed by Chris Lam, featuring Corina Akeson, Tariq Leslie, Matthew Simmons, and Diana Squires.

Reapers Haunted Attraction 2019

What: Reapers Haunted Attraction features a haunted house and actors walking the grounds. The main attraction is a 22,000-sq-ft maze of terror with little to no light. Take on the chainsaw massacre experience, complete with real chainsaws.

When: Nightly until October 31, 2019

Tickets: $11 for each attraction or $20 for both. Patrons get $1 off with a non-perishable food item.

Grave Tales

What: Fort Langley’s annual Grave Tales takes place on select evenings between October 16 and November 3, 2019. Attendees will have their choice of either a two- or three-hour program, in which local storytellers share eerie stories, all while leading the group through the historic village at night. There’s also the option to stay overnight in Fort Langley’s oTENTiks. These “are approved on a case-by-case basis” for the 9 pm tours.

Halloween at FlyOver Canada

What: FlyOver Canada is getting witchy for Halloween. Enjoy Broomelda’s Witches Academy Themed Pre-Show, the flight ride experience, the spooky decorations, and more. Plus there are additional activities on weekends. Costumes are encouraged, and attendees will receive an Official Witch Academy Diploma to take home.

Vancouver Cantata Singers: Free Open Rehearsal

What: The St. James’ Music Series presents a free open rehearsal by the Vancouver Cantata Singers and Artistic Director Paula Kremer as part of the 16th Annual Downtown Eastside Heart of the City Festival. Vancouver Cantata Singers are winners of the 2019 Healey-Willan Prize for Best Performance at the National Competition.
