Blossom at Metropolis

What: Metropolis at Metrotown’s Grand Court will become the site of Blossom at Metropolis, a one-of-a-kind art installation that includes more than 250,000 cherry blossoms. Mall-goers are encouraged to pass by and get an early glimpse of some gorgeous white and pink petals, all created by interactive arts company Hfour.

In addition to more than a quarter-million cherry blossoms, the exhibit will feature dozens of mirror spheres (the largest being four metres in size) that’ll create the illusion of infinite blooms.A series of floral art and Japanese culture workshops will also be held every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, while the exhibit is in place. And of course, what installation would be complete without a selfie zone?

Urban Grind 2019 at Harbour Centre

What: The 633-step climb takes place at Vancouver’s Harbour Centre and takes climbers to the tower’s iconic Lookout observation deck. There’s a $5 entry fee to participate as many times as you wish during the day and upon reaching the top, participants receive a free beer and a $5 voucher for the Harbour Centre’s food court.

Dates:  March 5, March 12, March 19 and March 26, 2019
Times: Anytime between 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
Location: Harbour Centre (access through lobby at 555 West Hastings Street, Vancouver)

Meet the All Blacks Sevens and Canada’s Men’s Sevens Team at 49th Parallel Roasters

What: Get your morning coffee served by the All Blacks Sevens and Canada’s Men’s Seven’s Team. The NZ7s and Rugby Canada Men’s Sevens team are leaving the competition on the pitch and joining forces to serve free rugby-themed flat whites. Come along and you might also win round trip tickets to New Zealand or tickets to the HSBC Canada Sevens tournament.

A Conversation with President Barack Obama 2019

What: Barack Obama will be landing in Vancouver this March for a special event hosted by the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade.

The Vancouver International Women in Film Festival

What: The 14th annual Vancouver International Women in Film Festival celebrates the best of cinema created by women. VIWFF is screening 49 films from 19 different countries around the world including 18 local filmmakers. As well as film screenings, the festival offers a variety of ancillary programming including film panels, special guests, artist talks, workshops, pitch sessions, receptions, an awards gala and more. Plus there will be free events on International Women’s Day, March 8.

Carnevale Party for Children

What:An entertaining family show to celebrate Carnevale. There will be an interactive play with the Italian Carnival masks, games, sweets and more.

Poly Queer Love Ballad

What: Nina, a polyamorous bisexual poet, meets Gabbie, a monogamous lesbian songwriter. With two microphones, a loop pedal, and array of instruments, they struggle to reconcile their fierce mutual attraction with their opposing perspectives on love. Created and performed by Anais West and Sara Vickruck, and directed by Julie McIsaac.
