National Geographic Live! in Vancouver — Ocean Soul

National Geographic Live: Ocean Soul

What: Leading underwater photographer Brian Skerry will be taking the audience on an underwater adventure in his talk “Ocean Soul.” An advocate for marine conservation, Skerry’s presentations showcase his award-winning and thrilling wildlife encounters. Skerry will recount diving in predator-infested waters and living at the bottom of the sea to get close to his subjects.

 #BCTechSummit 2019 — Innovation Superclusters & How They Will Supercharge Canada’s Economy

What: The CEOs of all five of the country’s business-led Innovation Superclusters are set to appear together for the first time ever at the #BCTECHSummit. The Government of Canada has invested $950 million to the Innovation Superclusters Initiative — an ambitious strategy to energize BC and Canada’s economy.

Piper Spit Bird Count

What: ​Whether you’re just getting to know the birds in your backyard or are on the lookout for rarities, grab your binoculars and join a park interpreter to watch the seasonal changes in the birds at Burnaby Lake. Ages 15+.

Urban Grind 2019 at Harbour Centre

What: The 633-step climb takes place at Vancouver’s Harbour Centre and takes climbers to the tower’s iconic Lookout observation deck. There’s a $5 entry fee to participate as many times as you wish during the day and upon reaching the top, participants receive a free beer and a $5 voucher for the Harbour Centre’s food court.

Every(body) is Beautiful Exclusive Screening and Guided Workshop

What: The Illusionists is a documentary exposing the media saturation faced by young people, and the harmful consequences on future generations. The documentary will be screened in Vancouver twice in March, with each showing followed by a guided workshop where participants will learn the tools to stop the “comparison game.” The seminar is hosted by Monica Elena, a former fashion model and holistic nutritionist who is aiming to change the conversation when it comes to beauty and body image. All attendees will also receive a gift bag valued at $60.

Movies in the Morgue: Thelma and Louise

What: Vancouver Police Museum presents a special screening of Thelma and Louise starring Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon. Attendees are welcome to bring pillows and blankets to cozy up in the morgue. There will be fresh popcorn and pop for sale.
