Canyon Lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge 2018

Canyon Lights (Capilano Suspension Bridge)

What: Thousands of sparkling lights will illuminate the iconic suspension bridge and other areas of the park. The 30-ton Douglas Firs of the Treetops Adventure will also be dressed in lights. Standing at an impressive 110 feet above the forest floor, the Douglas Firs that connect the suspension bridges are the eight tallest Christmas trees in the world, according to event organizers. Also returning to this year’s festival is the Snowy Owl prowl, gingerbread cookie decorating, and sing-along carols with a holiday band.

When: Thursday, November 22, 2018, to Sunday, January 27, 2019 (closed on December 25)

The White Album Revisited

What: To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Beatles’ White Album, some of Vancouver’s funkiest musicians are gathering together to pay homage to the classic album in a gala benefit concert for PAL Vancouver. The evening will showcase 29 innovative interpretative arrangements of 29 songs featuring a core band of musicians with special guests. The album will be performed in its entirety and in its original order.

The Macallan Whiskey Dinner at Mamie Taylor’s

What: Enjoy an intimate five-course dinner paired with five special expressions of The Macallan. Brand Ambassador Dan Volway will lead you through the story of The Macallan and explain each whiskey in detail while Mamie Taylor’s Executive Chef Jonas Hamre will match your whiskey with the perfect dish for each course.

Peter Pan the Panto

What: Fly away to Neverland with Peter Pan, Wendy and the Fraser Valley Gilbert and Sullivan Society. Enjoy a fun-filled tale that will captivate you from the opening number right until Captain Hook meets his timely reward. Featuring a huge cast, live band, enchanting characters, and lots of songs and dances.

US Thanksgiving Dinner at Ancora

What: Ancora Waterfront Dining and Patio Executive Chef Ricardo Valverde will put his Peruvian culinary heritage in the spotlight when the False Creek restaurant hosts a special holiday dinner service to mark US Thanksgiving on November 22. The three-course Thanksgiving menu will feature roasted mushroom bisque to start followed by Valverde’s unique interpretation of a classic Peruvian dish of arroz con pato (rice with duck) with huancaina sauce as the main and carrot cake for dessert.

Albireo

What: Albireo tells the story of brothers Wriker and Chambers. Half human and half siren, their fabled hypnotic powers only come into play when singing together in harmony. Two sides of a whole and separated for some time, Wriker only brings trouble when he barges back into his little brother’s life, and on the night of a crucial dinner party, no less. Presented by Rushed Productions in collaboration with the UBC Players Club. Albireo is also an acting fundraiser for Arts Umbrella.
