DOXA Documentary Film Festival

IGNITE! Youth Festival 2019

What: Every year the Cultch Theatre in East Vancouver is taken over by a team of young artists who put on the IGNITE! Festival, Western Canada’s largest youth-driven arts festival. There’s music, dance, circus, theatre, peaches, Space Jam, all performed and programmed entirely by youth.

When: Now to Saturday, May 4, 2019

Opening Reception: Transitions

What: Featured in the BAG’s Upper Gallery will be artwork created by Burnaby senior secondary school students in the gallery’s Artist Apprenticeship Program. This program mentors students interested in pursuing a career in the fine arts and invites them to develop and curate an exhibition of their own works. In this year’s program, participants were asked to consider a theme and to select an inspiration piece from the gallery’s Permanent Art Collection. This exhibition features both their selected work from the collection and their creative responses.

Epik High

What: The three-member Epik High made their debut in 2003 and have captivated fans with perplexing lyrical themes. In addition to receiving numerous awards, they were also the first Korean act to perform at the Coachella Music Festival, according to Billboard Music.

An Evening With Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton

What: The tour will feature joint on stage conversations with the two leaders, sharing stories and inspiring anecdotes that shaped their historic careers in the public service, while also discussing a variety of issues of today and the future. Guests will have the opportunity to hear conversations of the two as they tell stories from some of the most impactful moments in modern history. From the American presidency, to the halls of the Senate, to one of the United States’ most controversial and unpredictable presidential elections, the Clintons will give a powerful perspective of the past and where to go from here on.

Friends of the VPL: Spring Used Book Sale

What: Stocking up on new reads for the beach? There are bargains galore on gently used children’s and adult books, DVDs, CDs, and more at the Friends of the VPL: Spring Used Book Sale. Everything is half price on Saturday. Please bring your own bags.
