What: The Giro di Burnaby, presented by Appia Development, is one of the most exciting pro-cycling events in Canada, attracting riders from around the globe to the streets of the Burnaby Heights. Waterfront Cinema at Canada Place – Captain Marvel

What: During Waterfront Cinema on July 11, a large inflatable screen will pop up to show Captain Marvel, creating the perfect environment to take in a flick under the stars, all with the North Shore mountains in the background. To give your night two thumbs up, do yourself a favour and bring a lawn chair (or you’ll be sitting on the hard ground) and jackets and/or blankets (it gets cold). And keep in mind that this is a family-friendly event so neither smoking nor alcohol are permitted.

What: On July 11, 7-Eleven will be celebrating 7-Eleven Day by giving away FREE Slurpee drinks across the country. In past years, 7-Eleven have handed out nearly 900,000 Slurpee drinks at locations all over Canada on the one day. In celebration of their 50 years in Canada, 7-Eleven will also have some seriously cool retro shirts available for purchase — and for you to win. They will also be releasing an exclusive Snapchat experience for you to get involved and #DanceTheSlurp. Head to your local 7-Eleven to scan the Snap code to unlock the experience

Artist Talk: Sara Khan + Zoya Siddiqui

What: Meet Sara Khan at the Surrey Art Gallery for an in-depth discussion of the works on display in Suraj Kinare. She will be joined by artist Zoya Siddiqui to speak about her personal background, artistic influences, and the themes that have informed the development of her paintings. There will be a Q&A session after the talk. Part of the Indian Summer Festival.

Snack ‘N Snap 2019 at Metropolis at Metrotown

What: Snack ‘N Snap is an exhibit featuring tons of food and huge displays of sweets and snacks at Metropolis at Metrotown Grand Court from July 11 to 28 this summer. Take a break from shopping to admire, Snapchat, Instagram, and drool over the ginormous food displays that will be there like a giant pink donut, ten-foot lollipop tree, cupcake house, eight-foot pretzel, and huge melting popsicles.

There will be free samples from sweet and savoury food retailers, pop-up treat carts, and ‘Workshop Wednesdays’ to make DIY your own treats. Then try your hand at the Guess The Jellybeans contest. Put in your estimate of how many jellybeans are in their display case and you could win a $1,000 shopping spree.

Ozzy Osbourne: No More Tours 2 at Rogers Arena

What: All aboard! Ozzy Osbourne, better known as the Prince of Darkness is bringing “No More Tours 2” to Vancouver. Over the course of his career, he’s sold more than 38 million albums worldwide, received a handful of Grammy nominations, and seen numerous albums hit platinum status. Osborne will be performing with Megadeth as his special guest. This is the first time that Megadeth will join the superstar on a full tour, although they’ve previously performed at festivals together.
