RunGo Dash for Dogs

What: A guided 10 km, 5 km or 2 km run or walk through Stanley Park with 100% of the proceeds going to BC and Alberta Guide Dogs. After the run there will be a social event with pancakes, prizes, and good tunes. This is a race for people to support dogs, you don’t need a dog to run. Guide dogs and good dogs are welcome, dogs must be on leash and under control at all times for the safety of the working guide dogs.

91st Oscars Viewing Party

Robson Square Ice Rink

What: The provincial government’s Robson Square Ice Rink is open for the 2018 and 2019 season. As per tradition, skating is free for all ages for those who bring their own skates. Those without skates can rent a pair on-site for a fee. An on-site concession stand will also serve warm drinks and snacks.

When: Now to Thursday, February 28, 2019
Time: Sunday to Thursday from 9 am to 9 pm; Friday and Saturday from 9 am to 11 pm

La Bohème

What: The Vancouver Opera’s production of La Bohème will transport the audience back to the 1920s when “writers flocked to Paris to live the bohemian life.”

PetSmart National Pet Adoption Weekend

What: More than 1800 pets will be up for adoption from February 22 to 24 as part of PetSmart Charities of Canada’s National Adoption Weekend. Held at almost all of its 140 stores across the country, thousands of puppies and dogs, kittens and cats, guinea pigs, rabbits and other small animals will be looking for loving forever homes.  The animals come from more than 200 local shelters and rescue organizations.

Strathcona Heritage Walking Tour and Fountain Chapel Reopening

What: This year marks the 100th anniversary of a church which was central to the African community in Vancouver for decades. That history will be marked by the Grand Re-opening and Celebration of African Fountain Chapel Vancouver (AME) and the 5th annual Strathcona African Heritage Month Walking Tour.

The 7th annual Pet Lover Show

What: Visitors can expect animal-related seminars and speakers, who will be sharing their knowledge across multiple stages, giving owners a great chance to learn about pet health and behaviour. There will also be a wide variety of interactive activities, like a Giggle Booth, and their famous Lure Course. Returning this year will be the President’s Choice SuperDog Star Search, and new to the show this year will be veteran dog handler and Integrated Police Dog Service Team member Constable Scott MacLeod.
