HypeCity Streetwear Convention

What: HypeCity boasts over 50 premium tables for attendees to buy, sell, and trade from, as well as over 2000 guests to meet, network, and make connections with. Brands and models like Supreme, Yeezy, and Jordan, will all be up for grabs, including limited-edition pieces and rare vintage items – all in amazing condition. A number of new features have also been added to the one-day convention, including a “trading pit,” allowing collectors to see what their community has to offer.

The Light Festival

What: The City of Surrey and Telus are inviting everyone to the Light Festival at Bear Creek Park this fall. Visitors can experience a mesmerizing show of illuminated trees, eye-catching displays, and sparkling lights throughout an ever-changing garden of colour. On opening and closing night, guests will be treated to family-friendly activities at a kid’s zone, food trucks, and roving performers. Anyone attending is reminded to bring a flashlight and dress for the weather, as the event will run rain or shine.

What: This brand new festival is dedicated to highlighting the “power of podcasting” as a non-fiction media. Presented by DOXA, the festival features three days of panels, hands-on workshops, and live podcast presentations and tapings. The live shows feature some of the most recognized names in podcasting as they perform and talk about their creative process. Live shows will be taking place at the Rio Theatre, Vancouver Public Library, and CBC Studio 700, during every day of the festival.
