Thursday’s windstorm in Metro Vancouver caused damage to houses, power lines, and the White Rock Pier among other things, but it also caused damage to the wallet of one reckless driver.

In a release, Vancouver Police said that the driver was caught on video “ignoring traffic control devices” which were put in place following the windstorm.

Police said that in the video, the vehicle is seen driving through a cordoned off area toward firefighters responding to a 911 call about fallen power lines near Dunbar Street and Southwest Marine Drive.”

Police tracked the man to his home and issued him a fine for $196 for doing so.

He was ticketed under the Motor Vehicle Act for ‘drive without reasonable consideration,’ which carries a $196 fine.
