Vancouver driver apologizes for splashing pedestrians with a puddle in heartfelt message

We’ve all been there.

On a rainy day, you’re walking down the street, minding your own business when a car comes out of nowhere, drives over a puddle, and leaves you completely drenched and miserable.

Usually, the person behind the wheel speeds off without a care in the world. But one Vancouver driver has issued a heartfelt apology after splashing a couple earlier today.

Reddit user eauthrway said that they were driving on West 14th Avenue and “accidentally splashed (or rather, drenched) a nearby couple who were walking along the sidewalk.”

“The man reached out to me angrily (for good reason, as I had soaked his girlfriend), and cautioned me to slow down,” wrote the driver, adding they “take full responsibility for being so careless.”

The driver said they tried to “apologize profusely” but ended up driving away. The incident stuck with the driver who has offered to compensate the couple with “some warm coffee.”

“Once again, I’m extremely apologetic,” they wrote.

You can read eauthrway ‘s full post below. And if you were the couple splashed by this driver, just know that in true Canadian fashion, they are really, really, really sorry.

Today, I was heading right on West 14th Ave and accidentally splashed (or rather, drenched) a nearby couple who were walking along the sidewalk. The man reached out to me angrily (for good reason, as I had soaked his girlfriend), and cautioned me to slow down. I take full responsibility for being so careless – I was maintaining a speed that wasn’t suitable for the weather conditions and didn’t take notice of my surroundings. While I tried to apologize profusely, I drove away instead of resolving the situation at hand. If you are (by a long shot) reading this, PM me and I will compensate with an apology and some warm coffee. Once again, I’m extremely apologetic.
