Metro Vancouver bus timetables changing this Monday

Apr 22 2017, 4:12 am

If you’re a regular bus rider, get ready for big changes this Monday, as TransLink makes seasonal adjustments and increases services on some buses.

The move is part of TransLink’s 10-Year Vision and will mean 65,000 more service hours and improvements to 26 routes as part of their spring service changes.

While some routes are getting more frequent or being expanded, others are being discontinued for the summer to match seasonal demand.

However, TransLink predicts the service expansion will reduce the waiting times for commuters in several areas.

In a release, Kevin Desmond, TransLink CEO, said the service expansion is the biggest since 2010.

“Customers will see immediate benefits with shorter wait times, less crowding and more service on 26 routes across Metro Vancouver,” Desmond said.

The 10-Year Vision will see TransLink increase bus service by 10% and provide more frequent service on 50 different routes.

TransLink is also planning for 171 new buses by 2018, five new B-Line routes, as well as increased SkyTrain and SeaBus services also.
