A new bistro is opening inside the Vancouver Art Gallery this week, and we’ve got a sneak peek of the interior and some of the menu items.

It’s called 1931 Gallery Bistro, and it will be opening on November 28, officially replacing the now-shuttered Gallery Cafe, which closed in May.

The bistro was named after the Vancouver Art Gallery’s debut in 1931, and the interior design by FRANK Architecture & Interiors is described as a “minimalist culinary destination.”

The new 70-seat spot will have some grab-and-go options as well as a summer patio for patrons. The space can also be booked for large parties and private events.

1931 will offer a seasonal menu and breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner options.

As for the menu, expect eats like charcuterie, fondue, and braised BC short ribs for dinner, which will be served alongside an extensive cocktail program.
