Umaluma is about to open, Vancouver.

The name of this new dessert spot is super fun to say, and we think it’s going to be even more fun to visit once it opens its doors.

Located at 235 East Pender Street, Umaluma founder Ian Bruce told Daily Hive the eatery is aiming to open in the next few days, but it’s already standing out from the other ice cream parlours in Vancouver for a number of reasons.

First off, it serves non-dairy, 100% plant-based gelato, a healthy alternative to classic Italian Gelato that’s still just as creamy, smooth, and packed with fresh flavours and organic ingredients. The gelato maker is the only organic and non-dairy producer in Canada as of now.

Secondly, the branding is intriguing, eye catching, and just straight up dope.

And lastly, Umaluma’s flavours and ingredients (teased on their website) look absolutely out-of-this-world.

The flavours offered in-store include:

  • Hazelnut
  • Pistachio
  • Lemon
  • Mojito Magik
  • Drunken Cherry
  • Lavender Dream
  • Lemon Poppyseed
  • Mahalo Macadamia Chocolate
  • Dark Chocolate Truffle
  • Strawberry Malbec
  • Caramel Sea Foam
  • Saffron Orange
  • Vanilla Vanilla
  • Avocado Honey
  • Coffee Toffee

Weekly specials include Sugar-Free Vanilla and Black Sesame too.

Umaluma takes gelato to the next level by integrating superfood ingredients such as E3 Live and single origin, 100% chocolate paste (yes, we say chocolate is a superfood).

By elevating such a wildly-adored treat Umaluma has gotten our attention, and it’s sure to be a busy spot come open – which should be Friday, July 14 or Saturday, July 15.

Keep your eyes on this spot’s social channels for updates.
