This Vancouver eatery is the only place in Canada that serves Cocowhip and it's life-changing
There are many menu items to drool over at the new Chinatown vegan eatery, Kokomo Foods.
This spot (in the ex-Fluffy Kittens scoop shop) has insanely fresh and delicious gluten-free and dairy-free bowls and salads, a selection of kombucha and custom-made cold pressed juices from The Juice Truck, and its punchy pastel-coloured-foilage-covered decor is a dream for anyone looking for a perfect Insta shot.
But the best part of Kokomo has got to be the dessert they brought to Canada all the way from Australia – Cocowhip.

With a focus on nourishing and plant-based dishes, Cocowhip fits in with the rest of the menu, but it stands out as one of the most unique sweet treats we’ve had in a long time.
This soft-serve frozen treat consists of coconut water, organic bio-fermented coconut powder, vegetable-sourced stabilizers – basically, this stuff is the ultimate guilt-free dessert, and the only place you can get it is Kokomo.
Kokomo’s owner, Katie Ruddell, was immediately determined to bring this dish to Vancouver when she stumbled upon it in Aus, so she worked to partner with the producer –BSKT – to bring this dish to Canada.
Patrons at Kokomo can top the vegan and bio-fermented coconut soft serve with toppings like fresh fruit and shredded coconut, and it truly rivals the satisfaction of a cup of classic ol’ ice cream.
The other offerings at Kokomo – brought to you by Ruddell’s travels and the talent of Chef Mark Singson – include a killer Hemp Caesar Salad, a Kokomo Acai Bowl, a Field of Greens Salad, and a rotating feature.
One of the best selling items (and incredibly filling ones, too) is the uber-popular Coastal Macro bowl – a combo of brown rice, warm black beans, tomatoes, pickled cabbage and spicy cabbage, cilantro, and green onions with sunflower lime dressing.
Stay tuned for more drool-worthy creations (like Vegan Laksa) from this beachy, bright, easy breezy eatery that truly is a breath of fresh air in Vancouver’s Chinatown.
Kokomo is open Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm.
