When it comes to tipping delivery drivers, Uber Eats has revealed the top cities in Canada with the most generous customers.
On Thursday, Uber Eats published a report marking the company’s 10th anniversary in Canada, offering insights into Canadians’ evolving cravings. Canadians have used the app to deliver everything from comfort food to groceries, flowers, and even makeup. And according to Uber Eats, the company hit one billion deliveries in January.
The delivery service has come a long way since it started — in 2015, it was just a small lunch-delivery service in Toronto. Now, Uber Eats reaches 85 per cent of the population, operating in over 400 cities in Canada.
But which of these cities is the most generous when it comes to tipping?
Surprisingly, Toronto and Vancouver don’t make the cut. Uber Eats reports that Calgary customers are the most generous, consistently giving bigger tips to their delivery drivers. Close behind is another Alberta city, Edmonton, which ranks second for tipping generosity.

Edmontonians weren’t only generous tippers, they’ve also been the most polite Canadians over the past decade, “based on who says please, thank you, and merci the most on their orders.” The second most polite customers are in Ottawa, followed by Toronto.
So what were Canadians ordering?
In 2025, the most popular items that people craved were burrito bowls, coffee, chicken, bagels, and shawarma. The top five cuisines were Asian, American, Canadian, Indian, and Japanese.
Canadians also ordered some pretty weird stuff, including a space cowgirl Halloween costume, a pickleball set, a disco ball, and a Christmas dog collar.
