According to Ridge Meadows RCMP, the incident took place around 9:18 am, when officers responded to reports of a two-car collision in the 27200 Block of Lougheed Highway.

The crash involved an Infiniti car and Dodge pickup truck, and based off witness accounts as well as early evidence, police said they believe this was a head-on crash.

“The driver of the Infinity car was travelling westbound and allegedly crossed the center line colliding with the oncoming eastbound Dodge pickup truck,” police said in a release. “Tragically the driver of the car did not survive and the passenger of the car was transported to hospital by Air ambulance.”

The driver of the truck was taken by ground transport to hospital, as well.

Police said they expect the road to be closed in both directions “for the next few hours,” while the investigation continues, and noted that no further information is available at this time.
