Two drivers charged with death of teen at Burnaby crosswalk

Two drivers have been charged for the death of a 15-year-old Brazillian exchange student who was hit at a crosswalk in Burnaby earlier this year.

The incident took place at a marked crosswalk at Cariboo Road, near Highway 1 on January 17 at approximately 7:10 am.

Emergency crews responded immediately, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Burnaby RCMP, Kai Man Cheu, 58, has been charged with driving without due care, passing unsafely on the left, and crossing a solid double line.

46-year-old Paul Oliver Wong has been charged with driving without due care and attention and failing to yield to a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk.

The men are set to appear in court on Monday.
