The Vancouver Police are making an appeal to the public after a shooting that injured a 45-year-old man on Saturday evening.

The VPD received a report of shots fired at around 5 pm in the area of East 53rd Avenue and Prince Edward Street, and officers arrived to find a man suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was rushed to hospital and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Now, detectives from the Major Crimes Section are looking for drivers who may have dashcam footage and were in the area between 4:30 and 5:30 pm Saturday.

Specifically, police are looking for anyone who was driving on East 49th Avenue along the north, East 57th Avenue at the south, Fraser Street to the east, and Main Street at the west.

Constable Jason Doucette said the preliminary investigation findings suggest the shooting was targeted.

“We have officers in the area today looking for additional evidence. If you know something, or have video footage and have not yet spoken with police, please call or approach one of our officers,” he said in a statement.

Anyone who may have been in the area and saw anything suspicious is asked to call investigators at 604-717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
