A 15-year-old girl died after she was struck by a vehicle in Burnaby on Wednesday morning.
According to police, the girl was hit by a vehicle that was travelling north on Cariboo Road, around 7:10 am.
Emergency crews responded immediately, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene as well and is cooperating with investigators, police said.
“At this stage it is too early to say what may have caused the collision and the area around the 7200-block of Cariboo Road will remain closed as the investigation continues,” said Burnaby RCMP Cpl. Daniela Panesar.
The victim is believed to be an international student, and police said she was not attending school in the city.
