Summer rolls on in the Tri-Cities, and we’ve got the connection to fun events happening in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody this August. Kaleidoscope Arts Festival, outdoor movies and concerts, and more.

Cinema Under the Stars

What: Enjoy recent Hollywood hits on a 26-foot-tall enormous screen at Sun Valley and Gates Parks. Films include Ralph Breaks The Internet (August 2) Avengers: Endgame (August 16) and Mary Poppins Returns (August 30). In the event of rain, the movie will be moved to the next available Friday.

Summer Concert Series

What: The TD Community Plaza in Town Centre Park is hosting free concerts under the evening sky this summer. Sit on the grassed seating levels or bring your own chair or blanket while enjoying a homemade picnic or meal from a food truck.

Poirier Street Market

What: Launched in 1996, the Poirier Street Farmers’ Market is the longest-running suburban farmers market in the Lower Mainland.  The Poirier Street Market hosts a diversity of vendors and products from May through October. Each week a wide variety of vendors gather to showcase their products – made, baked, grown, or raised in BC.

Summer Sundays: The Hitzville USA Band presents The Motown Show

What: Enjoy free concerts every Sunday at Rocky Point Park. The Hitzville USA Band wraps up the summer concert series with a Motown tribute.

Kaleidoscope Arts Festival

What: Royal Canoe, Terra Lightfoot and Current Swell will be headlining Coquitlam’s free Kaleidoscope Arts Festival, which will take place on August 10, at Town Centre Park. The free event returns to Coquitlam for the fourth year offering a full day of activities, artisans, and entertainment. This year’s event will also feature DJ Emilita, Blink Acro, Disco Funeral, Hip Hop Hoop Dancers, and mural artists Richard Tetrault and Sandeep Johal. There will also be food trucks and craft beer and spirits to enjoy.

Port Coquitlam Farmers’ Market

What: Inspired by, and created in collaboration with the Haney Farmers’ Market Society, the Port Coquitlam Farmers’ Market is part of a larger plan to strengthen Port Coquitlam’s downtown centre through arts, cultural, and heritage programming.

When: Every Thursday until October 10, 2019
Time: 3 to 7 pm

Downtown Port Coquitlam Car Show

What: Enjoy the annual Car Cruise and BBQ on Saturday night, with food, live music, and more. Then on Sunday take in the car show with more than 500 vehicles on display. There is also continuous entertainment throughout the day on the main stage, a beer garden, model car building workshop, and a huge children’s entertainment area for kids of all ages.

Port Moody Car-Free Day

What: Port Moody’s Car-Free Day is street party filled with local businesses, musicians, green transportation displays, delicious food, and a family-friendly Brewers Row beer garden. There will be over 130 booths to explore, plus a bicycle skills zone, a mini train, and a ninja obstacle course.

Summer Cinema Series – Captain Marvel

What: Enjoy Captain Marvel on the outdoor big screen at Rocky Point Park. Pack a picnic, bring a blanket, and round up some friends. Enjoy food trucks, meet local businesses, and shop vendors as well.

Music in the Park

What: Enjoy the summer with an afternoon performance in Lions Park every Saturday. Music in the Park features musicians from across Metro Vancouver playing a variety of genres including jazz, pop, rock, blues, folk, world fusion, and contemporary.
