Metro Vancouver's gas, parking taxes and transit fares all increased on July 1

Metro Vancouver transit users and commuters will be paying more due to recent tax and fare increases implemented by TransLink.
As of July 1, TansLink’s gas, parking taxes, and transit fares all saw an increase.
TransLink has raised its gas tax from 17 cents to 18.5 cents per litre.
The Parking Rights Tax increased from 21% to 24%. According to TransLink, the parking taxes collected are used to fund road and transit operations in the within the region.
Transit fares will increase 5 to 10 cents for single-use fares, 25 cents for day passes, and $2 to $3 for monthly passes.

“These modest increases are helping to fund the biggest transportation in the region’s history,” said TransLink.
- 500 new buses, including 147 new additional articulated buses for three new B-Line routes on 41st Avenue, Lougheed Highway, and the North Shore. B-Line service starts fall 2019.
- A new additional SeaBus for increased ferry service frequency. Service starts summer 2019.
- 56 new train cars for the Expo Line and Millennium Line and 24 new train cars for the Canada Line for increased train frequency and capacity. Service improvements will be fully rolled out by 2020.
